The Commerce Engine is a tech-enabled TikTok Shop operating partner, not a TikTok agency. We run TikTok Shop end-to-end for established UK consumer and DTC brands — strategy, storefront and daily operations, affiliate creator programmes, LIVE commerce, and performance reporting — under one contract and one account team.

We were founded by senior operators from the platform and agency sides of the business, and we take operational responsibility for results rather than simply managing media spend. AI and automation sit across our operating stack, which means a small, senior team delivers a quality of work that would normally require far greater headcount. It also means everyone here works on real accounts from day one.

The UK social commerce market is moving quickly and the category is still being defined. This is a genuine opportunity to build expertise in a channel that most brands have not yet worked out.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on operations role. You will sit inside the team that runs our clients’ TikTok Shops day to day and you will own real tasks on real accounts — not a research project parked in a corner.

TikTok Shop rewards operational discipline: listings that are accurate and well merchandised, creators who receive samples on time and are briefed properly, LIVE streams that start when they are supposed to and are stocked correctly, and numbers that are reported cleanly enough for a client to act on. That operational layer is what you will learn, and it is the single most transferable skill in social commerce right now.

You will be supported closely. You will not be expected to arrive knowing TikTok Shop — we will teach you the platform. We do expect curiosity, care with detail, and a genuine interest in how brands sell online.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Shop operations

  • Maintaining product listings in TikTok Shop Seller Centre — copy, imagery, variants, pricing and stock accuracy across client catalogues

  • Monitoring daily orders, fulfilment status and returns, and flagging issues before they become client problems

  • Supporting promotional set-up for platform moments and seasonal campaigns

  • Helping keep our operational checklists and account documentation current

Creator and affiliate support

  • Sourcing and shortlisting affiliate creators against client briefs, and helping onboard them into client programmes

  • Coordinating product sampling and seeding end to end — despatch, tracking, chasing and recording what went where

  • Preparing creator briefs and answering routine creator queries under the guidance of the account team

LIVE commerce

  • Supporting LIVE stream preparation: run sheets, product line-ups, stock checks, on-screen assets and pre-stream tests

  • Assisting during broadcasts — comment moderation, pinning products, logging issues in real time

  • Capturing post-stream results and contributing to the review of what worked

Reporting and analysis

  • Pulling GMV, conversion, creator and content performance data into our reporting templates

  • Producing first drafts of weekly and monthly client reports for the account team to review

  • Tracking competitor activity, platform changes and category trends, and sharing what matters internally

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We set a high academic bar, and we are equally interested in attitude, organisation and commercial curiosity. Your degree subject matters far less to us than the quality of your thinking.

Essential

  • A strong academic record — a 2:1 or above from a leading university, in any discipline

  • A serious interest in social commerce, TikTok, creator culture or e-commerce, and evidence that you follow it of your own accord

  • Genuinely strong attention to detail — this role involves catalogues, spreadsheets and logistics, and small errors cost clients money

  • Comfortable with Excel or Google Sheets and willing to become properly good at it

  • Clear, confident written communication; you will be writing to creators and drafting client-facing material

  • Well organised, able to hold several workstreams at once and to ask for help early rather than late

  • Able to work effectively from home for most of the week

  • The right to work in the UK. We are not able to sponsor visas for this role.

Nice to have

  • A second language, spoken and written to a professional standard. We work with brands across Europe and expect to open shops in additional markets, so French, German, Spanish or Italian is a genuine advantage.

  • Any experience selling on TikTok Shop, Shopify, Amazon, Vinted, Depop or Etsy, including for yourself

  • Content creation experience, or having run a TikTok or Instagram account with an audience

  • Previous internship, placement year or part-time work in marketing, retail, e-commerce or hospitality

  • Familiarity with tools such as Canva, CapCut, Notion, Looker Studio or Airtable

HOW WE WORK

We are a flexible working business. You will be in our London office a maximum of one day a week; the rest of the time you choose where you work. Much of our sector still expects five days on site, and we do not.

The trade-off is that we work to outcomes rather than hours, and we expect people to be organised, communicative, and reliable without supervision. LIVE commerce also runs to a broadcast schedule, so there will be occasional days built around a stream rather than around a standard nine-to-five.

WHAT YOU GET

  • A paid six-month internship with a clear route into a permanent Account Executive role

  • Direct client exposure and named ownership of workstreams from your first month

  • Structured onboarding to TikTok Shop, LIVE commerce and affiliate operations, taught by people who built these programmes at scale

  • Weekly one-to-ones and a written development plan with defined milestones

  • Flexible working with a maximum of one office day a week

  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, pro-rated for the length of the internship

  • Pension, home working allowance and access to our wellbeing support

  • Travel expenses covered for office days and client or studio attendance
